Uproot Magazine was a project by the fabulous graphic designer Jenny Bowler, owner and art director of her photo and video, and design business Bonne Bonne Creative. As a masterful collaborator, Jenny brought together writers, photographers, painters, dancers, and artisans—talented creatives from all mediums to celebrate Boise’s thriving art and culture scene with a biannual publication.
For this project, I highlighted young, emerging musicians in the scene who were committed to their craft, interviewing them on their music and the direction they saw their passion taking them. I also interviewed Daniel Ojeda, a professional choreographer and leader in the dance community, who saw the medium as a powerful method for bringing people together in a way nothing else can.
All these artists had one thing in common—they believed in their purpose and pursued it to the fullest degree. With photos from the highly skilled photographer, Adam Wright, we delivered stories that captured some incredibly passionate and aligned individuals.
